Absinthe Is Back ~ So Am I

I've been buying Absinthe from overseas for years. I love the stuff. I think this is pretty exciting. From what the website says, this should be pretty good absinthe made in the traditional manner. I'll let you know as soon as I try it. The music on the website is really nice too.
Oh yeah, I am posting again. Sorry I was away. . .long story. I have some incredible news to share coming later on tomorrow.

America The Glamorous

Ban Divorce

This billboard was put up in a Chicago neighborhood. That's right Chicago, Illinois. A state where a group called The Illinois Family Institute, is working very hard to get same sex marriage, civil unions, and any other form of domestic partnership constitutionally banned. Protect Marriage Illinois, a group formed by The Illinois Family Institute specifically to work on the "problem" of gay marriage, is actively seeking to get a referendum on same sex marriage put on the November ballot. Their goal like other similar groups is to "protect" marriage. This group, like Dick Cheney out hunting quail, has the wrong target. If they want to protect marriage perhaps they should get a petition to ban divorce or at least a ban on billboards advocating divorce. This morning as I was flipping through the news channels I saw several discussions taking place about this billboard, including one on The View. Everyone seems to agree that this ad is pretty inappropriate. Very few people seem to understand the fact that it's this type of mentality that threatens the "sanctity of marriage". There is no threat to marriage when two people of the same sex who love each other unconditionally want to have the same rights as everyone else.

George, Brad and Matt Oh My!

Bushwinked

After fumbling over his own speech and insinuating that the Queen was over 200 years old, our idiot President winked at the Queen. That's right floks, Yosemite Sam insulted the Queen, then looked her right in the eye and winked at her.

The Queen, with all the grace and dignity of a true Monarch reacted with nothing more than an extremly disapproving glare.

Seriously, this guy should just not be allowed out of the White House period.

Music Quiz

Have you ever been bored enough to go and check out the games on your iPod? I've had an iPod in one form or another for the past 3 years and never once did I think that I would find any amusement in playing the games that are included on there. Well, this afternoon I started playing the music quiz game. It's actually a lot of fun, especially if you have a lot of music on your iPod. I have close to 15 GB on mine, so there's a lot of stuff that I don't listen to all the time or haven't listened to in a while. If you've never played this game, here's how it works: a random song clip starts playing and a list of 5 songs appear on the screen. You have to click on the right song as fast as you can, as the song plays on the choices start disappearing off the screen. The faster you click the correct song the more points you get. Big fun on a slow friday afternoon!

A New Day

Dedication

Late last year through an unfortunate set of circumstances, I was let go from my job. I was devastated to say the least. During the relatively short period of time that I was unemployed I found myself taking a hard look at my life and many of the choices that I have made. I learned a lot about myself during that time. Most of what I realized about myself is that I have a lot of illusions about who I really am verses how the rest of the world sees me. I started to keep a journal and I wrote in it everyday for a while. It helped me get through those days and weeks. What I'm hoping to do here is continue that same idea, albeit in a public and more entertaining way.
Also during that time I came across a blog called The Daily Martini. I absolutely love this blog. I found myself checking for updates every couple of hours. Pictures, videos, recipes, cute stories, links, and whatever the latest trends are this guy has it! One post in particular caught my attention Love As I See It. I read, or rather looked at it and was very affected by just those few expressions of love that were pictured. I was compelled to e-mail the site's author with a quick comment about how I felt. It was hard to describe. I was so out of touch with my own identity, that I had forgotten about something so simple. Something that defines us all as human beings, the way in which we love.
Losing my job changed my life in a lot of ways. I still keep in touch with some of the people that I used to work with. There are others that I just don't see or talk to anymore, and still others that probably don't want to see or talk to me anymore. Either way, because of the intensity of my experiences over the years of employment with them I would be remiss if I didn't include them in this dedication. Thank you guys. You know who you are. . .
To my friends, former co-workers, "N", The Daily Martini, and to Love As I See It this is for you.

I'm still in the process of organizing myself in order to make this blog as fabulous as I want it to be. I'm working on gathering some links and also some pics. Stay tuned.
